On a Positive Note - Part 5 of 50

Today I want to take a look at where are we going from here?

I am very pleased with the way that President-Elect Preval has started to reach out to all segments of the Haitian society. This shows clearly that Haitians are capable of working out their problems among themselves and find a solution. I can see in perspective a Haiti ready to blossom, a Haiti ready to prosper, a Haiti ready to reconcile, a Haiti ready move forward. I know that the United States is a powerhouse that can make you or break you. In Haiti's case the power house has been breaking us more than making us and this is why:

The United States has had a relationship with Haiti even before our independence prior to 1804. The U.S. used to trade with Toussaint Louverture when Toussaint was Governor of the entire island of Hispanola called today "Haiti". After our independence, The U.S. and the rest of the world abandoned Haiti because they could not tolerate a black independent nation, which was seen as a direct threat to slave owners, particularly in the U.S. It was until 1862 that the U.S. recognized Haiti's independence. The U.S. blatant racism toward Haiti is evident.

How can the poorest country in the western hemisphe be in the backyard of the richest country in the world?

The answer is simply "RACISM".

The current U.S. acting Ambassador in Haiti, Tim Carney, seems to be obsessed with Aristide. Aristide is currently in South Africa not in Haiti. Tim Carney should stop using Aristide as a deviation to real problem that Haiti faces, or maybe Carney is intentionally doing this to masquerade the harm, abuses the U.S. has done to Haiti. Haiti deserves better treatment in the hands of the U.S.. Remember The Haitians saved the U.S. Revolution in 1779 in Savannah, Georgia. History shows that U.S. has been ungrateful and cruel toward Haiti.

With the exception of President Bill Clinton who visited Haiti in October 1994 to thank Haiti for helping to bring back to life the U.S. Revolution.

The U.S. invaded Haiti twice. The Republicans, CIA, and IRI were involved in overthrowing democratically and constitutionlly elected Haitian president. Instead of bringing the Haitian society together, the Republicans have used their influence to destabillize the First Black Independent country in the world over and over again.

U.S. should stop being involved in coup d'etat.

U.S. should stop being engaged in destabilizing Haiti.

The U.S. Embassy in Haiti should stop being a niche of spies, and it should stop exploiting the weakness of certain unpatriotic Haitians to cause turmoil in the country. The number one problem in Haiti right now is not the Haitians, it's Tim Carney's evil intent. The U.S. seems to enjoy labeling Haiti as the poorest country in the western hemisphre.

The failure is more the result of the U.S. policy in the region. Yes, Haiti should form a partnership with the U.S., but it must be based on mutual respect; however, if the U.S. wants to simply control Haiti rather than helping it to develop, then the U.S. has two choices:

Help Haiti or shut up (Get out of our lives).

Coming tomorrow "On a Positive Note" (Part 6 of 50) A Positive Plan for Haiti
