Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to be a citizen in order to vote. And in the Haitian Constitution dual-citizenship is outlawed (Thus the reason Simeus was barred from running for president and why such a big deal was made over Yvon Neptune becoming a senator and then Prime Minister). I know Wyclef campaigned for John Kerry in the U.S. election. I'm fairly certain he's a naturalized U.S. citizen but I can't find anything on Google. At any rate, that part of the Constitution needs to be amended. Haitians should be allowed to have dual citizenship. Haitians living abroad are too strong an economic force in Haiti to not be allowed to have a political voice in the country. Hundreds of millions of dollars a year are pumped into Haiti's economy from Haitian's living in the Diaspora, many of them who are now citizens of the country they're living in now.
