"On a Positive Note" (Part 11 of 50) The Haitians would never want to be under a communist system. They are already spoiled. Even the fruit vendor loves to sell his/her fruit, then buy other products, resell them to make a profit. Haitians strongly favor a free market society. But in the case of Haiti, the poorest country in te Western Hemisphere, a movement like lespwa/Lavalas will implement deep social reform to uplift the underprivileged while promoting free market and encouraging capital investment. For your information, let see the definition of Communism, and Capitalism: Communism: A totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production where all private properties are eliminated, and economic goods are distributed equitably. In a communist system one is not free to leave his/her country without the approval of the government. Capitalism: An economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investment that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production and the distribution of goods that are determined by competition in a free market. A free market society encourages creativity. Coming next "On a Positive Note" (Part 12 of 50) What Preval should say during his inauguration. Peace and reconciliation G. Simon
