Observer, at least you are making more sense with $600 Million compared to the $1.7 Billion or 20,000 people killed over teh last 2 years that G Simon insists on and claims to have evidence of and that he will never present.
Boniface Alexandre and Latortue are quietly enriching themselves and their families Boniface with his son Jean Boni Alexandre in Switzerland and his son in law Pierre Michel Brunache since he actually still has about one third of the national budget which was allocated to Aristide's preisdency; Latortue with his greedy nephew or cousin Youri Latortue nicknamed Mr 30%; anyway Aristide's presidencial budget was exagerated so Alexandre is using the absence of a parliament to profit from it. I prefer that we hold elections but with a secure climate where people don't have to fear being kidnapped or killed.
I do care about justice but don't make pretend that Lavalas practiced justice, when a judge ordered the release of Prosper Avril becaus ethere was no evidence that he had done wrong, yet the politicized police refused to obey the judge and release him, what do you have to say about that Observer? I think Jean-Juste should face a trial even though I think jail time should do him good for his mockery of the death of the journalist who died.
You say that you have a tape of lavals supporters beating on activists, don't you see that this was gov't sponsored repression? Lavalas always started the violence adn if I was anti-Aristide activist being beaten by chimeres, forgive me for trying to defend myself, and if one of the guys supporting Aristide got hit or shot it was not right either depending on if he was instigating violence.
During Aristide's last year in power you will agree with me that he faced a lot of protests that he tried to suppress either thru the police or with violent gangs, so if you were organizing a march against a dictatorship and the police was trying to stop you for bogus reasons when you know that they did nothing when your crowd was being attacked and provoked then you would also get in the face of the police officer telling you not to go a certain road because that same dictator did not want people to see nor the news to show yoru marach succeeding while saying that's it's only a minority against him.
To be honest with you Observer, I don't believe Aristide had to rig the 2000 election but, HE DID! Why did he permit his supporters to smear an opposition's podium with excrements and not say anything about it, why did Aristide's supporters scare away all opposition from campaigning to the point that they all ended up boycotting the election, what was Aristide afraid of? I have a problem with rigging an election, don't you? We all know that it was this greedy move by Aristide that led to this scandal; I was there in 2000 and believe me voter participation was very low 20 to 25%
Last concerning Boulos' move to sucontract election bulletins to the DR is something I did not agree with, and I shared Mr Frisch's opinion when he complained publicly about it.
