On a Positive Note - Part 4 of 50 - by G. Simon

"On a Positive Note" (Part 4 of 50)

Before I start to talk about what we have in common as Haitians, I would like to respond to Ajane.

Ajane, there are other people like you who are Aristide haters, but they can never prove anything wrong that he did. The Bush adminitraton that hates Aristide so much can not find any fault with Aristide after two years of extended investigations. If you are really sincere about fighting corruption, you should concentrate on the Latortue goverment as well. The people in power have the responsibility to promote reconciliation and peace. Since the illegal Larortue regime has been installed by the Bush administration, all it has been doing is chasing, arresting, jailing and sometimes murderintg the Lavalas movement people.

I want Preval to be different. Preval could have positioned himself to do the same thing. Preval could have also launched a campaign of retatliation, but where will that lead to?

to more retaliations, then we will find ourselves in a never ending cycle of retaliation and violence.

This culture has to stop. Haiti has to move forward. Haiti has to grow politically. There is a game the children in Haiti play. "Se ou'k pou kite pou mwen, mwen pap kite pou ou". If that's always the attitude of those who are in power in Haiti, we will find ourselves in a never ending cycle of retaliation and violence. This culture breeds nothing but hatred and ignorance, rancor, and enmity.

In plain English "WE HAVE TO STOP THIS SHIT".

Mulattos or dark skins, reach or poor have to realize that we all have more in common than we think.

We are Haitians.

We speak creole.

We enjoy Haitian food.

We love carnival.

We are proud of our history.

We like to brag about being the First Black Independent country in the World.

We like to revere our heroes like Toussaint Louverture, Dessalines, Petion, etc...

As you can see, we have more in coomon than you think. We can and should do better as a nation.

I command Wyclef Jean and Dumarsais Simeus and other concerned Haitians who are contributing to make Haiti a better place for the respect and the well being of all Haitians.

Coming next "On a Positive Note" (Part 5 of 50) Where are we going from here?.

Peace and Reconcilaition

G. Simon
