THE ONE WHO CHOOSES HAITI

CHOOSE HAITI

I've read many comments from this site from those who are happy that preval won and those that clearly are not. The truth is Preval is what the majority wanted, i didn't. This is my comment many have acted as though the internationally owes haiti. It does not. I admit we have not always had our fair share but that doesn't mean they owe us. I know many of you are rejoicing thinking with preval as president that change is now imminent. It's haitians that have the power to change haiti. Remember haiti did not get to where it is because it has not been help in the past by foreign help, it has. Haiti is the poorest country in the americas because of HAITIANS not just because of the so-called bad presidents which we all like to blame.I'm not saying they did not contribute because they did. And not because of the US, FRANCE, CANADA OR ANYONE ELSE. But if we want to move forward it's time we accept responsibility, and stop complaining. Stop acting like victims. Stop assigning blame. Throw away all prejudice and misconceptions. Learn to be somewhat impartial and neutral. That's what haiti needs, that's what democracy is. In the past our love or hatred for leaders have blinded us, and caused to mistrust and hate our fellow haitians. We need to get out of this cycle. We all expect the international community to donate money without giving them something back in return. It doesn't work like that. We claim to be sovereign, and yet haiti cannot survive without international aids or the aid of countless number of haitians living abroad. It's time to realize that the whole process is a give and take one. They all have their own agenda for helping. We need to have our own agenda. It should be unity and the rebuilding of haiti. Clearly we need help now to get going. but bear in mind that the rest is up to us. Choose haiti not leaders because leaders come and gone. Haiti is what will remain. Think of all those that have left with their pockets full, they didn't take masses with them. Now they live as KINGS AND QUEENS.
