Garry Destin 's reply to Msg 924 RE: TO OBS. KEEN .DO WE NEED AN ARMY?
After reading your article, I have come to a conclusion that the Haitian's army is haiti's greatest enemy. The money that is paid to the haitian's army can do a great deal for education and health etc. Having an army that doesn't undesrtand it's first priority is the protection of it's citizen, why having it around. When it would come for war, they would be the first ones to chicken out. There was an interview with an American Gen. in Irac. He said the hardest part of training the iraqis army and police is when it come to help people, they chicken out because it is dangreous but when it come to terrorise civilians, they are the best. It is the same as Haiti. We don't need an Army. If need, all Haitian from sixteen should be part of it with intence education about helping their own people and great manual skills. for example: a man named Flambert told that I should be Mr charles or Simeus's potter or kitchen helper. Why not, as long as I get paid. Haitians in Haiti should be educated about "sot metier" we read it from the civic et moral hand book but because we have to recite everything, we don't get to understand. Keen, are you a journalist or ... You seem to know everything about Haiti in great detail. Great job people !!!
