On Baker!!!!

i do not agree with ignorance, but some criticisms are understandable.

but first of all, baker is not a mulatto, he is a caucasian male in a country whose white population represents less than one percent of its overall population .

boyer and rigau were mulattos, baker is phenotypically caucasian with no obvious negroid traits.

it is just to clarity a common misconception about baker's ethnic identity.

let's look at this:
england and the united states have much more qualified blacks that can successfully assume the leadership of these countries, man and women who have had excellent civic duties from military service to philantropic works, than could baker ever do for haiti.

in other words, your arguments should also carry to these nations.

i would not accept your arguments of misguided ignorance unless you are equally willing to call americans and english a bunch of misguided ignorants for not even attempting to elect black men and women who are objectively a hundred times more qualified than baker.

what seems to be misguided ignorance is the sudden messianic stature of baker_ perhaps, it is a psycho-historical reaction that can be interpreted from the concept of the "white man's burden".

it seems clear that somewhere in the unconscious of our collective mind, only a white haitian has the intrinsic integrity to lead this chaotic nation.

while people are fallaciously assuming that baker's color have worked against him, in fact it has worked for him. i could bet that may people voted for him simply because he is the different colored-candidate on the ballot.

for example, baker is not more sucessful as a businessman than the late presidential candidate mr sylvain if one takes into consideration the latter's very humble begining as opposed to baker's sheltered life and comfotable inheritance to start with. the late mr sylvain had had to make his riches from scrath( no inheritance) in order to achieve what he had. i do not see anyone boasting about the late mr sylvain's economic achievements and the fact that he had come form very humble origins to achieve through discipline and hardwork.

since the most and perhaps only pronounced difference between these two is the color of their skin, then one can reasonably assume( according to mills' inductive method of difference) that baker'relative popularity mainly comes from the fact that he is white and sylvain is not.
please, cut the crap about haitians not knowing what they want for not electing baker.

i do not share the outrageous arguments agaisnt baker, but i do not understand either his sudden messianic stature.

let's think about the following for a minute:
baker has an industrial pact that depends on american subcontracts, and he exports his finished products directly to the united states without having to go through haiti's national port authority.

since those products were not being sold on the local market, baker could not legitimately claim that the political crisis during the turbulent presidency of aristid had adversely affected his business.

if that is the case, then his business receiving tax-exemptions is unjust.

in other words, if he is as honest as you are proclaming him to be, then he should have rejected the tax-exemption on humanitarian grounds since haiti has ben going for sometime now through a critical and unbearable poverty(a poverty that is integral).

P.S: racism is not only judging a human being unfavorably solely on the basis of his skin-color, but also judging him or her favorably solely on the basis of his skin-color, such as calling a man a crook because he is black or calling a man a messiah because he is white.
