Who else has 20 some odd years in the Haitian government, with out having experienced dramatic financial gains due to his sense of duty and responsibility to his nation? Who else has devoted their lives (and not just the pre election period) to the progression of Haitian society without succumbing to the grasps of corruption - one regime after another? Who has had a true vision for Haiti? And not just another idea or plan - a heartfelt vision like those of the worlds truest and greatest of leaders who have brought about some of the worlds truest and greatest changes- A Vision such as LHeure de Leveil Movement Pour un Nouveau Pouvoir dEtat Integrateur.! Of all the candidates we read of, which of them have chosen to continue their works as a civil servant as the only righteous campaign strategy as opposed to going about selling himself and buying the loyalty of other desperate Haitians.
Lets think about it. And while we're at it, let's think about what Haiti needs.
Forget about the "ideal situation".
We've been in and out of them all. Forget about who would steal less than the other.
Such a position should not be occupied by any thief of any sort.
For once, let's try to forget about the all so familiar faces of Haitian politics.
They have all screwed us and Haiti for years (thanks to their popularity!) more than we can imagine...
More than Le Nouveliste or TIME magazine can ever report.
In unison, we should forget about the survival of Haiti and march toward building anew.
Survival should not be considered an option.
We have been just surviving since our independence.
Haiti would be lucky to be considered scarred.
The wound we call Haiti is much too deep for scarring, for even scarring is part of the healing process.
It's time for us to undergo a whole new operation.
One consisting of amputating the rotten and not accommodating them.
Bandaging with intent to heal what needs to be bandaged and not simply keeping them from sight.
It's time for a reconstructive operation.
So that just maybeour children can witness Haiti, transitioning from a handicapped state and taking her first couple of steps forward.
For such an operation - for such a mission, we should all be honored to have a man such as Dr. Gabriel Nicolas volunteer his services as the president of our lost nation.
Courage.
Duty.
Direction.
Honor.
Excellence.
As a nation this may not be our last chance.
Yet, as of right now, Dr. Gabriel Nicolas may be our only hope.
