Dear Haitian brothers and sisters,
Please find the answer I received from Mr. Guy Philippe in the response to the two questions I asked him, yesterday.
Kindly understand that I cannot give my personal opinions, as I would like, if given more opportunities, to receive additional answers to questions I would ask the current responder or any of the other candidates.
The letter and response are copied and pasted to avoid misquotation.
But, before I paste it please read my response to Mr. Philippe copied and pasted.
For some reason my sent message was not saved.
So, I copied it and pasted it. Please read:
"Dear Mr. Philippe,
Thank for responding to my questions.
I shall post your answer so that all of our Haitian brothers and sisters would read it. Hopefully you will grant them the same courtesy that you have granted me if they would ask you similarly tough questions.
Kindly rest assure that, as a concerned native Haitian, I shall ask the other candidates as tough a question as those I asked you. Hopefully, they will find times from their busy schedules to respond.
Respectfully,
Max Sanchez-Martinez"
Please find below, copied and pasted the the email I received from Mr. Philippe on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 6:28 a.m.:
Salut
Guy

I wished that I were fluent in

My French is elementary and I have

As for writing it, if I may say, it's a joke.
>Therefore, please accept this note in English as no insolence to you or

>Mr. Phillippe, I had a thought this morning.
I said to myself that I am not
>running for the presidency of Haiti, therefore, I am not even going to give
>my opinion to the individual on line, on
>haitielections.com, who insists that he
>or she is the "Friend of Haiti." This particular individual has nothing to
>say but negative things about Haiti and Haitians.
He only suggests any
>thing that is negative for Haiti.
The last thing he came with, if I may
>quote what he wrote in its entirety?
>
>
>
>"Here is the solution for Haiti, in order for peace and prosperity to

>Privatize TELECO (Telephone), EDH (Electricity), Airport (Transportation),
>Maritime Ports (Commerce), BRH,BNC,any government bank ? (Financial).
>After doing so, I guarantee that Haiti will start enjoying peace and

>Here is a bit of History for you Haitians:
>
>In July 28, 1915, American military forces have been in control of Haiti
>and the National City Bank of New York controlled the National Bank of
>Haiti and was the depository for all of the Haitian national funds that
>were being collected by American officials, and that Mr. R.

>Thereafter, all the Gold from the National Bank of Haiti were removed and

>Mr. Phillippe, how I picked your name as the Candidate to run for the most
>powerful office in Haiti goes like this:
>
>
>
>Considered that you are among the most popular Candidates who want to
>represent the great people of Haiti, I created a pool of candidates, wrote
>each their names on pieces of papers, folded them and placed them in a

>Here are the names: Mr. Baker, Charles
>Henry;
>Mr.Bazin, Marc
>Louis; Mr.

>Francois;
>Mr. Mourra, Samir
>Georges;
>Mr. Paul,
>Evans;
>yourself, Mr.Phillippe,
>Guy; Mr.
>Preval, Rene
>Garcia;
>Mr. Simeus,
>Dumarsais;
>Mr. Toussaint,
>Dany and
>finally, I also included Ms. Roy, Judie Joe C.
>Marie,
>the only Haitian woman, among all who want to represent their Haitian
>brothers and sisters as the next president of our Beloved Haiti.
>
>The shoe box was closed, shook and opened (this would be done until after
>a name would be picked and will continue until any name would be picked
>twice).
>
>The name of the candidate would be picket at random.
>
>Once picked, the paper would be folded and placed in the box. Once a
>candidate is picked twice, he would be put on the spot.

>The procedure was repeated seven times and the results were: Mr. Baker, Ms.
>Roy, Mr. Preval, Mr. Phillippe, Mr. Simeus, Mr. Bazin, Mr. Manigat, Mr.
>Phillippe.

>
>As it seems that you were the lucky one to be picked on my non-scientific

>
>Mr. Phillippe, kindly bear in mind that I am not a reporter, as I am not
>presenting myself as one, I have no political affiliations, however, I am

>Sir, if you would, answer these two questions:

>
>1) As the next democratically elected president of Haiti, how would
>you go about solving the situation of PRIVATIZATON of Haitian Assets that
>the "Friend of Haiti" mentioned in the above quote?

>2) As the next democratically elected president of Haiti, what are
