Ajane, I recently bought the American journalist Michael Deibert's book "Notes From the Last Testament." It's about Aristide's downfall but is one of the most objective books I've seen on the matter. He pretty much calls things as he saw them (at least from what I've read so far). Last night I read the chapter detailing Preval's presidency. Preval and Aristide had quite a bit of tension for some time. Deibert makes it seem as if Preval has always been a good man trying to do his job to the best of his ability but was hindered by Aristide. What Preval spoke about on Wednesday was the same things he had wanted to do during his first term but couldn't because Aristide kept interfering. It's a pretty good book. I'd recommend it.
